ITINERARY

Day 01: Arrive Xian

Arrive at Xian Xianyang airport, welcome reception and transfer to Hotel. Rest of the day is free. over night at Garden Hotel or similar.

If there is no any direct flight from your home city to Xian, you may arrive at Xian through Beijing, Shanghai or Hong Kong. If you want, you can have an option tour at Beijing, Shanghai or at Yangtze river, we will arrange it for you privately before the departure of Silk Road Classic main program.

Day 02: Xian

Breakfast at Hotel then start our program including the spectacular Terra Cotta Warriors World Heritage site (Cultural list) dating from the Qin dynasty (220BC), The second is the Wild Goose Pagoda, repository of the scrolls and manuscripts brought to Xian by the explorer monk Xuan Zang following his great epic journey to the Buddhist capitals of South Asia in Tang dynasty (Journey to the west).late afternoon, visit to Muslim Quater at the surrounding of the Xian Mosque, a masterpiece of the combination of Muslim and traditional Chinese architecture. O/n Garden Hotel or similar.

Day 03: Xian / Dunhuang by Air

AM visit to the Shaanxi Museum in order to have more information about China's history, Ethnography as well as about Silk Road. PM flight to Dunhuang, transfer to Dunhuang Hotel or similar.

Day 04: Dunhuang / Turpan

Breakfast at Hotel, visit to Mingsha sand dunes to have a camel ride to crescent moon lake, back to hotel to fresh up and check out. PM visit to Mogao grottoes, a world heritage of Buddha arts. Late afternoon train to Turpan. Overnight train (soft berth).

Day 05: Turpan

Arrive at Turpan station. Transfer to hotel for breakfast and check in. Turpan is the 2nd lowest place in the world next to “Death Sea” with its altitude of –154 meter below sea level. Climate here in summer is very hot and called “fire land”, annual rainfall is less than 20ml. The dry climate makes its grapes are the best in the Country and saved many clay made historical ruins as Gaochang and Jiaohe.Today, we start the day with drive to Tuyuq valley (60kms) on the east of Turpan. The landscape of this peaceful village is beautiful and we will

have lunch at local farmer Kurban Kasim's courtyard under the grape trees and wandering around this old village's streets and small lanes. On the way back to Turpan, visit to ruins of Gaochang AC, Astana graveyard from Tang dynasty and Bezaklik Buddha caves. Overnight at Turpan Firland Hotel.

Day 06: Turpan / Urumqi

Start the tour with ruins of Jiaohe AC, a well remained complex of mud clay buildings aged almost 2000 years. Now it is also a cultural heritage under the protection of UNESCO. Visit the Karez wells, the underground irrigation system of Turpan oasis, visit the Emin Minaret which was built in 1777, After lunch drive to Urumqi (200kms). Dinner at local Restaurant nearby the hotel. Overnight at International Trade Hotel or similar.

Day 07: Urumqi / Kashgar

AM visit to Xinjiang Museum where 3800 years old corpse are exhibited. Have a leisurely stroll to the red hill park to have a bird eye view to Urumqi city. A short visit to Urumqi Grand Bazaar and drive to airport after lunch. Arrive at Kashgar, transfer to hotel Chinibagh or similar. Late afternoon walk to Bazaar area aound the Eidkah Mosque.

Day 08: Kashgar Sunday Bazaar

Today our main objective is the legendary Kashgar Sunday Market where each Sunday the country comes to town at the colorful covered Bazaar as villagers and towns people mix to trade, barter and buy. It is said locally that "you can find everything at Kashgar Bazaar but not rooster's milk". This lively tradition is a carry over from ancient times when Silk Road trade goods flooded into Kashgar from the four corners of central Asia. In the afternoon we visit historic Eidkah Mosque, built in 1442 and still China's largest mosque. Mausoleum of Abakhoja, a venerated Sufi leader lived in 17th century. We take lunch in the old city in a local family compound in order to experience Uyghur culture.

 

Day 09: Kashgar to Kyrgyzstan over Tourgart Pass

Drive to Turgart pass (167kms). After drive 60kms on the paved road, get to Topa village where we clear the Chinese Customs, then drive 107kms further to the pass along the dirty but smooth road to the border pass where we meet the Kyrgyz guide and van for the further tour. After clearing the Kyrgyz Customs drive to Naryn for overnight. Overnight at Guest house.

Day 10: Naryn / Karakol

Full day drive to Karakol over Dolon pass. Enroute visit Jetty Oguz valley. Overnight at Amir guest house. Lunch at service station along the road, dinner at a local family (we recommend Gulia's house for a home food).

Day 11: Karakol

Take 4x4 drive jeeps to Altyn Arashan valley to enjoy the natural beauty of Kyrgyzstan. we can have plenty of walking and photo opportunities. Overnight at Amir Hotel.

Day 12: Karakol / Issyk kul

AM visit the Dun'gan mosque and orthodox church. Drive to Issyk kul (110kms). After lunch, visit to petroglyphs, check in to Karven hotel and have a leisurely walk along the beach or swim. Dinner at Cholpan ata town at Restaurant Fisherman.

Day 13: Issyk kul / Bishkek / Tashkent

Full day drive to Bishkek with enroute visit to Burana tower which was built during 11th century. Drive to airport to take the flight HY776 that departs at 19:50 to Tashkent and arrive at 20:10. Transfer to Hotel Miran or similar.

Day 14: Tashkent / Samarkand


AM visit at Tashkent to Kukeldash Madrassah, Charsu Bazaar, Arts Museum etc. PM drive to

Samarkand. Overnight at Asia Hotel or similar. 

Day 15: Samarkand

After breakfast have a full day sightseeing tour of this great city including a visit to the famous Madrasas at Registan square, the Gur Amir Mausoleum ( Tomb of Tamerlane), Shahizinda complex and many other monuments dating between 12th and 17th century. Overnight Asia Hotel or similar.

Day 16: Samarkand / Shahrsabz / Bukhara

Full day drive to Bukhara with en route visit to Shahresabz (460kms). Shahrsabz is one of the most beautiful towns in Central Asia. Visit Aksarai, Mausoleum of Kok Gumbaz and Gumbazi Sayidon, Mausoleum of Djakhangir and Hazrati Imam Mosque. After lunch at Shahresabz, drive to Bukhara. Arrive and Overnight at Asia Hotel or similar.

Day 17: Bukhara

A full day city tour to Labi Hauze complex, ancient silk market, Madrassah Ulugbek, Kalyan minaret etc. Overnight Asia Hotel or similar.

Day 18: Bukhara / Tashkent

AM visit to the Ark fortress with the historical Museum inside. Then drive to nearby Country side to have a walk in villages, meet local farmers and have informal visit to one or few families for a tea and rest under their grapevine. Back to Bukhara airport to take the flight back to Tashkent (HY1338, 20:25 – 21:25). Transfer to Miran Int'l Hotel.

Day 19:Tashkent

AM free at Tashkent. PM transfer to airport to depart.
